Zwemtrapje Off-Duty
Explanation file swimming ladder Off-Duty Author: Hylke de Haan Date: 03/2024
So, you want to take a leap of faith in the water alongside Off-Duty. To help you hoist yourself back into the boat after this refreshing dive, there is this swimming ladder. To use this ladder without damaging yourself or even worse the beautiful vessel Off-Duty, be sure to follow the following instructions.
Take the swim ladder from the bakskist, unroll it, determine which end of line is the long end and which is the short end.
Now you can start hanging the swimming ladder over the edge of Off-Duty. To secure the swim ladder start by attaching the long end of line with a bowline (paalsteek) to the traveler (overloop), so that the top step sits +- 20 cm below the deck of Off-Duty and make sure the knot won’t slip.
The short end of line is then attached to the starboard (stuurboord) or port (bakboord) rear cleat, also make sure this knot won’t slip.
After you have attached the swimming ladder you are ready to hoist yourself out of the water. Make sure you only grasp the swimming ladder or the septer post to hoist yourself out of the water.
If after reading this explanation you feel like you are not sufficiently educated on using the swimming ladder ask your skipper for help or if you are the skipper and are in need of further instruction you can send an email to huhaan@euros.nl
