Twelfth lustrum ball DZ Euros

On December 12th, Euros Sailing organized a magnificent gala. The lustrum committee had spent a long time planning this wonderful event, ensuring every detail was covered. From the DJ and the venue to a photographer and, of course, delicious drinks and snacks. In the afternoon, a few members started decorating the space, creating a festive atmosphere.

At 9:00 PM, the event kicked off, and members began arriving slowly, dressed in their finest attire. Many were naturally dressed in the stunning Bordeaux-Red, VO! Upon arrival, everyone was handed a glass of bubbly, which most downed immediately—something anyone could understand. The first drinks were ordered, mostly Jägerbombs. The staff looked quite surprised when a member dropped a shot glass into a glass of Red Bull (not sponsored).

The venue quickly filled up. The lustrum committee officially started the party with the iconic Kabouterdans. DJ Silas played the chorus four times, and the celebration was truly underway! The room was packed, with 60 attendees—a fitting number as Euros celebrates its 60th anniversary this year!

As the evening progressed, most people were already quite tipsy. Everyone alternated between taking photos at the photo booth and grabbing drinks at the bar. One sailor after another invited a group to join them for a shot. At one point, the DJ shouted, “I know you’re sailors, but can you row just as well?” Many sailors took this opportunity to show off their rowing skills. The song ‘De Woonboot’ began to play, and everyone started rowing. It went catastrophically wrong. The rhythm was terrible (we wonder why that might be), someone accidentally headbutted another person, and drinks were knocked over left and right.

As the night drew to a close, a beautiful group photo was taken to capture the occasion. In the final half-hour, people hurried to down their last drinks. It was a spectacular sight. Many sailors weren’t ready to call it a night and headed to the pub ‘Friends’. The party continued there, and around 4:00 AM, most decided they’d had enough. Naturally, the traditional stop at the wall couldn’t be skipped and was enjoyed with great enthusiasm.
