It is time for a new sailing calender!

The ZeilCie has been working hard to put together an exciting sailing calendar for this year. It’s packed with many fun sailing events! To give you an idea of what’s in store, this article provides a brief summary. Of course, in addition to these events, the regular I-VAFFs and I-JAFFAs will also take place. All events can be found on Sail, where you can also directly sign up.

The year kicks off with the well-known Delivery. During this event, we’ll sail with the FF65 (with her brand-new name—exciting!), De Witte Draeck, and Jaffa towards Friesland and Lelystad. This is a fantastic event where issuance is free, and you can enjoy a great weekend with fellow Euros members.

Next up is the Ladies’ Weekend! After many years, it’s finally happening. During this weekend, Eurossientjes who identify as women will go sailing and enjoy some wine together. Slay! It promises to be a fantastic time, and it's especially nice to sail without those grumpy men for a change.

The Spring Introduction Weekend is also coming up! This event allows first-years and other sailing enthusiasts to sign up and (re)discover our wonderful association. For just 75 euros, you can join this fun-filled weekend packed with sailing and evening entertainment. Be sure to sign up!

Do you prefer more thrilling sailing experiences? Then make sure to participate in the many sailing competitions held throughout the year! These include the NSK Team Sailing and the Nestor Trophy. If sailing with Jaffa sounds more exciting to you, consider joining the Vuurschepenrace and The North Sea Regatta. These events depend on the availability of skippers, so if you're interested, reach out to the ZeilCie.

If you’re looking for a more relaxed experience, you can also enjoy Wad Sailing. Here, you’ll sail with current and former Euros members across the stunning Wadden Sea. This weekend is a great opportunity to learn about the "old" Euros and master the art of Wad sailing.

Later in the year, the Ronde van Noord-Holland takes place—an exciting race where you'll explore the waters surrounding North-Holland. It’s a fantastic competition with plenty of good vibes!

Then, summer arrives, and that means sea sailing! The exact location is still a surprise, but it will definitely be an interesting one. Will we go south or north? We’ll see! With a close-knit group, you’ll cross the Dutch borders and experience sailing abroad. You can sail for multiple days in a row or hop from harbor to harbor. Once the location is announced, contact the ZeezeilCie to learn which skippers are going and what their goals are for the trip.

If you prefer inland sailing, you have two great summer options. First, there’s the Friesland Wander Week. This is the perfect way to unwind after your academic year while learning essential sailing skills in the beautiful Friesland waters. Every year, it’s a huge success! After the FZW, there’s also Wad sailing with small boats, which even includes trips to the German Wadden Islands—an amazing experience with breathtaking views.

After the summer, we kick things off with the Kick-In! But let’s be honest, introduction weeks involve a lot of drinking… That’s why Euros has the Hangover Weekend, a chill event where you can float around on the Frisian lakes and relax before the busy academic year begins.

In the fall, we have two more introduction weekends to welcome new members and introduce them to the amazing Euros community. If you’d like to help out during these weekends, email ice@euros.nl—they could really use your help!

In October, an exciting event takes place: The Windmill Cup! Previously known as Nacht & Ontij, this is a thrilling race where competitive sailors push themselves to climb as high as possible in the rankings. Multiple boats will participate, though the exact number is still uncertain. No experience? No problem! This weekend is a great opportunity to learn and have fun, no matter your skill level.

And just like that, the season comes to an end. Our beloved boats will make their Return Voyage (hopefully without too much damage). This is another fun weekend where boat rental is free, and the evenings are guaranteed to be amazing!

That wraps up the sailing season in a nutshell! All events are subject to skipper availability, but in most cases, this is not an issue. There are many more short (but equally fun) events planned throughout the year, so be sure to sign up for as many as you can! It’s going to be another fantastic year.
